Please mind the picture, please… please… Don’t know why that my buns turned out that way after I put them on hot buttered pan 😉
There’s nothing can beat homemade sandwich that started everything from scratch, especially the bread. Whether it’s burger, slider, french sandwich, etc.
I made this last weekend, still inspired by The Pioneer Woman.
Again I suggest you to drop by to her site if your family is a big fan of sandwiches.
I still had tartare sauce from the last Fish & Chips recipe. You could always subtitute with plain mayo, mustard, salsa, Pico de Gallo, pesto, etc. Your world is in your hand…
The buns were made based on my previous recipe, Light & Soft Bread, won’t write it again on this post. I only replaced instant yeast with my lovely starter, Walter. This recipe is proven within time, makes me ignore other bread recipe 🙂
8 little burger buns / dinner rolls, cut in half
Grill Chicken :
4 Boneless, skinless chicken breast
Salt & pepper
Caramelized onion :
1 medium size onion, sliced thin
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp brown sugar
2 fresh tomatoes, sliced thin
Mozzarella cheese, sliced
Brush the buns with unsalted butter on each side. Placed them on a pan. Grill until browned & crispy. Set aside.
Prepare the chicken. Cut each breast horizontaly into 2 parts. So you end up with 8 parts total. Pound the breasts until they flattened. Seasoned with salt & pepper, set aside for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, you could work on the onion. Melt butter in a pan. Throw all the onion. Cook until soften. Pour in brown sugar. Continue cook until caramelized. Set aside.
Prepare the grill, I used grill pan. You could use any kind though. Melt butter, lay the chicken. Let them changed in color for 5 minutes. Flip them. Quickly put a slice of cheese on thop of every chicken. Let them continue cooked while the cheese melted for another 5 minutes. Put all the grilled chicken in a clean plate.
Give 1 tbsp of tartar sauce on every bun.
Placed a grilled chicken with cheese on top of 1 side of bun. Spoon 1 tbsp of caramelized onion.
Topped with tomatoes. Sandwiched them all together.
Served warm or you could wrap them in foil and freeze. If you want to enjoyed the sliders for breakfast tomorrow, all you had to do is thawed them the night before inside refrigerator. And pop them inside the oven for 10 minutes. Voila, your family had warm sliders first thing in the morning…
Don’t think about the callories though…. 😉
